Rare Shibori Throw Authentic collectable handwoven batik TIE DYE West Africa striped traditional Baule indigo "Panther Skin"
The listing is for a rare traditional fabric from the Baule people of Ivory Coast. Stripes of fabric are handloomed by traditional weavers. The weaver manipulates white threads to form stripes which are sewn together and dyed in indigo blue following an ancestral technique called "Gale". This technique leads to various patterns including "Goly-Kplo" meaning: Panther skin or N'Zue-isu meaning the waves on the water in baule language.
The cloth is then hand embroidered with different coloured threads
This is a " Woman size " cloth and measures 60" ( 155 cm ) x 45" ( 115 cm). It would make a lovely throw.
The cloth is in excellent NEW condition.
In present days is still used as a cloth in Ivory Coast but is also used by collectors of fine woven cloths and artifacts as Wall hanging , sofa or bed covering !!!!!!
